Greenpower Canada is a Toronto-based non-profit youth organization that inspires and empowers young people to take leadership locally and globally to achieve socio-economic development through conservation and environmental initiatives.

Since its inception in 2001, Greenpower has reached thousands of youth through numerous conferences and workshops. Internationally, Greenpower has established a rural energy program to promote socio-economic development in Orissa, India as well supporting numerous community conservation awareness activities.

Searching for International Liaison over the summer

We are currently searching for a dynamic and enthusiastic person to take on the challenging but fulfilling role of an international liaison to run our Education for Sustainable Development Program. We are currently in need of a liaison with local NGOs in India to establish the school in Orissa, India. If you have excellent writing skills, a passion for international sustainable development, curriculum development, then this is perfect for you! EARTH Bingo

You are invited to our first ever EARTH bingo night! It will take place at Hart House at the University of Toronto on Friday, April 11th. Take a break from studying and get a chance to win some cool prizes from Mountain Equipment Coop! The event will begin at approximately 6pm, and the exact room will be posted on the TV screen next to the porter's desk.

As Greenpower continues to grow, Tricia Kennedy will be representing Greenpower Canada in attending EnviroFest 2008 to speak to local high school students in Burlington. Her talk will consist of ideas and ways that students can take action in their own highschools. Youth empowering youth!

Earth Day Conference Postponed

The annual Earth Day Conference will be postponed until Fall 2008 due to venue issues. However, this will be an exciting opportunity to take advantage of the time of year as students return to school with a fresh and focused mind. Watch out for more details to come! Another Successful Cards for a Cause

Greenpower has raised over $2000 to complete the funds to build a school in Orissa, India. Congratulations to the members who worked so hard to pull this together! Special thanks to Predrag Jurovicki (Greenpower Member) for the card design and Lida Preyma (Board Member) for the corporate purchase (on behalf of Pure Trading)! We have officially raised the sufficient funds to build the school and will begin negotiations with local NGOs in India immediately!
